- THE PALAIS BEAUMONT
When André Labarrère, Deputy-Mayor
of Pau decided to restore the building and create
the Palais Beaumont, the entire construction
was in very bad repair.
François
Lombard, reknowned architect for restoring the
Municipal Casino in Biarritz, was awarded the
project.
He
succeeded in extracting what's essential from
the two previous styles: 1900 as far as the
east and north side are concerned and 1930to
the south and west.
The
two bell-towers are isolated from the roof structure
and separated from the main hall by two winter
gardens that also illuminate the enttire building.
The central area of the building is made deeper
to accomodate a series of meeting rooms looking
out over the artificial lake.
